I've finally resigned from my job of 4 years & 10 months.
Pretty decent for a first job, no? Anyway. The process of actually resigning was simple enough. Getting the courage to actually do it was a totally different matter as I was super nervous. Finally 'threw' in the letter on Monday after work. My bosses (GM & Manager) were caught unaware and were pretty shocked.
There's too much to type, but to make things short: After meeting with my GM for 1/2 hour on Monday evening, I came out even more determined to leave. Why? Because the things he said to me (in between "Why?" and "What can we do to make you stay?") wasn't actually very reassuring. Things like "You know, I'm not in the habit of taking back people who leave" and "You know the turnover rate for the industry you are going into is very high and on a whole, not stable."
What the...?Maybe his PR skills weren't very good. Maybe he really didn't know what else to say. Maybe he was just babbling. Maybe he was a bit intimidated cause I didn't say very much. Who knows?
To make matters worse, my colleague has also resigned. As some of you know, my department is actually made up of only the 2 of us, so things will get real bad if we both leave at the same time.
Jeng jeng jeng!I'll be meeting with my boss again today to discuss some alternative arrangements (from his side, not mine). I doubt he can sway my decision anymore. It's a done deal. As they say, the contract has been 'signed, sealed and delivered'. So folks, do watch out for the drama that's already unravelling before your eyes.
More updates later. Thanks for reading kengkawans! :)
